Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic Customer Service Officer. The position plays a key role in delivering effective service to customers, ensuring service excellence.
Some specific tasks include:
- Promote the image of Council by providing a professional public interface between Council and its customers.
- Provide a high level of customer service through operation of the switchboard and Council telephones by promptly receiving calls and enquiries in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Providing cashier services to customers and undertaking associated tasks including receipting, cash balancing and reconciliation.
- Ensure cash is securely handled at all times.
- Data entry and maintenance of Council databases.
- Participate in and develop a teamwork approach and plan daily operations in conjunction with the team and Supervisor, for the provision of effective services for the Customer Service Team and Council.
- Preparation of quality word processing documents as required.
- Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in the provision of customer service.
- Ensure Council’s advertising is compiled and forwarded to print media outlets within timeframes and payments processed as required.
- Ensure Council’s internal telephone list and Emergency Situation Switch procedure is kept up to date and accurate.

- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,068.29 to $1,237.77 per 35 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

**Location**:
This position is based at Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
