In this role you will build strong relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to the development of QRA and State government policies to mitigate the known and potential effects of disasters.
- Undertake research and engagement for the development of policies, plans, guidelines and tools in alignment with emerging national and international policy, resilience trends and best practice.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, integration, and evaluation of evidence-based disaster risk management and risk reduction programs, leveraging local community relevant disaster risk management data.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of risk-based planning, policy and procedures to improve the identification and assessment of capability and capacity to manage disaster/potential disasters.
- Build partnerships with Councils and state agencies across Queensland and contribute to the identification and assessment of broad area risk for use within and across local government, disaster district and state disaster risk assessments.
- Represent QRA at stakeholder meetings and events with relevant industry and community organisations, negotiate agreed outcomes and identify where learnings can be incorporated into communication and education strategies, projects and policies.
- Manage hazard and risk projects including monitoring and evaluating outcomes against performance targets.
- Lead and model highly collaborative internal relationships through the sharing of knowledge, experience and reflections as part of a wider team of multi-disciplinary specialists.
