- ** Strategic Partnerships**: Foster strong partnerships with business area executives and operational staff to deliver trusted advice, supporting informed decision-making related to the operating budget.
- **Monthly Reporting**: Prepare internal operating monthly management reports and analyses for senior executives, leading discussions and collaborating with business areas to develop accurate forecasts.
- **Budget Management**: Take a lead role in preparing internal operating budgets, ensuring regular reviews and analyses to maintain financial alignment with organisational goals.
- **External Budgeting**: Develop the external budget, including crafting New Policy Proposals in adherence to the Commonwealth Budget Process Operating Rules.
- **Leadership**: Provide leadership within the Management Accounting and Reporting section, exemplifying DPS values, and contributing to the achievement of Finance Branch outcomes.
- **Innovation and Improvement**: Drive innovation and contribute significantly to continuous business process improvement initiatives within the organisation.

**The Successful Applicant**:

- Demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting.
- Sound knowledge of Commonwealth Budget Process Operating Rules or aptitude to learn
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build effective partnerships across different business areas.
