A full-time permanent opportunity has become available as a Finance Analyst within the Integrated Energy Finance team. Based in Melbourne, you will perform and deliver month end results and commentary. In addition to delivering the month end close for the Trading and Origination Electricity & Decentralised Energy Resources (DER) business, you will be contributing in-depth analysis and interpretation of the financial performance for Trading & Origination Electricity and DER portfolio.
What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, Trading - Reporting & Accounting, you will:
- Deliver the month-end close process for the Trading & Origination Electricity and DER
- Post journals and record non-financial data as part of month-end close process
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for key GL accounts
- Prepare variance analysis and related commentary for actual result vs prior period and budget, forecast for inclusion in monthly performance reporting
- Provide monthly reporting and analysis of the financial performance to key stakeholders
- Support in-depth analysis, understanding, interpretation and explanation of major drivers of the Trading & Origination financial performance
- Take initiatives to improve / streamline existing processes to achieve a shorter month-end timetable or better data quality
- Prepare disclosure packs for half yearly external reporting
- Respond to external auditor queries at half year and year-end
- Prepare variance analysis and related commentary for OFR, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow
- Prepare data for ad hoc external parties and regulators (e.g., ACCC, ABS, ATO)
- Provide input to Trading & Origination Electricity and DER reporting and other ad-hoc analysis as required by the business and finance management
- Contribute to the achievement of the Trading and Origination financial objectives and targets by contributing effective and value-add commercial analysis to the Electricity and DER team
- Contribute to team meetings and team engagement initiatives
- Contribute to team strategy and deliver on continuous improvement initiatives
About You
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Experience of month-end close and finance planning process
- CA/CPA/ACA/MBA qualified
- Advanced user of Finance module of ERP, preferably SAP
- Experience accounting for financial instruments (preferred)
- Experience working with large complex data sets
- Understanding of complex modelling (SQL and Excel)
- Ability to pick up new concepts quickly and connect business drivers to financials
- Experience working collaboratively with internal stakeholders outside of direct team
