**About ARWA**:
The Australian Radioactive Waste Agency (ARWA) is leading the responsible management and safe storage and disposal of Australia’s radioactive waste. A key element of ARWA’s program is the delivery of the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility which will provide a purpose-built, engineered solution to manage radioactive waste from sources such as nuclear medicine production.

- Extensive experience in, or a sound understanding of transport and packaging of radioactive materials.
- Extensive technical knowledge of operating plant and equipment in a highly regulated and hazardous environment.
- Extensive relevant experience in managing projects within a highly regulated industry/environment.
- Demonstrated ability in training, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with team members.
- Demonstrated experience strategically managing effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, in particular the demonstrated ability to provide sound advice and prepare written reports and briefings.
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of workplace culture that embraces safety and security and is collaborative and inclusive.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment.
- An ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile, and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
- A valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Sound understanding of Commonwealth Government processes.
- Experience in, or a sound understanding of, the radioactive waste management industry.
- Experience in, or a sound understanding of international radioactive waste management supply chain.
- Experience in managing radioactive waste management projects or programs.
**Qualifications**:
- Tertiary qualification in Waste Management, Environmental Management, Engineering, Science, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline or related field and/or equivalent industry experience (desirable).
**Eligibility**:
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen or going to be granted Australian Citizenship before commencement.
