Nangus Public School is a vibrant small school situated in a rural environment 60km from Wagga Wagga and 26km from Gundagai. Its current population of 9 students has a broad range of learning needs within the multistage context, including students with additional needs. Our families value the importance of increasing the social capabilities of their children to ensure success in any future context or situation. In continued support of this, the school will further strengthen whole school processes, including an environment of high expectations, explicit wellbeing programs, reflective practice, individualised intervention and authentic collaboration with all stakeholders.
Literacy and numeracy are the driving focus for continued improvement with implementation of explicit teaching and professional development to improve reading and numeracy outcomes for students. The school is working to further strengthen the relationship with the local AECG to gain insight and advice around cultural awareness knowledge and to strengthen teacher professional learning.
A strong school-wide commitment provides equity for all students in their learning and wellbeing with teaching and leadership responsive to student needs. Students are highly involved in their learning journey and are supported by a collaborative culture of staff, parents, caregivers and the broader community, to ensure continual improvement.
Positive home-school relationships are valued with subsequent evidence of strong partnerships. Varied and quality experiences within and outside of the school also need to remain of high importance to enrich educational and social experiences for all students from the rural, remote and low-socio economic community. Strategic use of resources, including equity loadings and targeted funding, student progress monitoring and the delivery of high-quality teaching and leadership will enable personalised learning and growth.
