**The Opportunity**

We have two exciting opportunities for an experienced Principal Biosecurity Officer (Audit and Compliance) and for a Principal Biosecurity Officer (Registrations) to join the Department of Primary Industries and Regions’ Biosecurity Division.

These roles will play a key part in developing discussion papers, workshops and other forums to consult with stakeholders, as well as providing policy options and advice to the Minister, Chief Executive and Executive Director. The Principal Biosecurity Officers are responsible for implementation of a robust and consistent approach to biosecurity policy, managing staff to ensure they are skilled and capable, and will establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

**Principal Biosecurity Officer (Audit and Compliance)**

The primary purpose of the Principal Biosecurity Officer (Audit and Compliance) is to plan, develop, and implement biosecurity policy and regulation, including audit and compliance frameworks, to meet the requirements of the _Biosecurity Act 2025_ and PIRSA’s strategic priorities.

**Principal Biosecurity Officer (Registrations)**

The primary purpose of the Principal Biosecurity Officer (Registrations) is to plan, develop, and implement biosecurity policy and regulation, including registration and accreditation frameworks, to meet the requirements of the _Biosecurity Act 2025_ and PIRSA’s strategic priorities.

**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicants will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Opportunities up to June 2027.
- Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
- May be required to work from one or more sites in urban Adelaide, including the CBD and Waite.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

**Qualifications**
- Essential: Nil
- Desirable: An appropriate tertiary level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise, particularly within a biosecurity environment and/or in establishing or implementing audit, compliance, education and enforcement functions.

**Remuneration**

ASO7 - $108,109 min - $116,864 max per annum, plus superannuation
