**Your role**

Manage a team responsible for identifying training and development needs, formulating programs, plans and services and delivering appropriate training and development solutions across the state to enable Youth Justice staff to perform their roles safely and effectively.

**What you’ll do**
- Manage a team, including allocation of work, mentoring, coaching and monitoring performance to ensure the effective design, and delivery of learning and development programs and services and ensure the team is capable and competent to deliver all required training programs and to establish a depth of in-house training resources.
- To have a sound working knowledge of contemporary practices in working with adolescents and those in an involuntary setting. This includes an understanding of assessment and treatment of young people and a sound grasp of how to utilise culture in practice.
- Identify, design and coordinate the team in developing, delivering and evaluating training and development programs and services to enable staff to deliver key Departmental objectives and / or provide a sustainable and capable workforce and a high-performance culture.
- Provide advice and solutions to senior management as they seek to identify skill / performance gaps and seek to ensure that the required capabilities and ongoing development needs of their staff.
- Evaluate and report on the outcomes of programs / services and benchmark against other relevant comparisons to ensure we have current, evidence based and appropriate offerings including conducting mandated reviews of all programs managed in the team following accreditation according to the review schedule.
- Prepare correspondence, briefings, reports and analysis on programs, research findings, emerging issues, risks and potential improvement opportunities / solutions.
- Consult with Regional Directors, REOs, TDOs and SPOs, frontline staff and community to determine ongoing business needs and updates the calendar accordingly and represent the Department at external forums to maintain networks with other organisations.
- Set clear standards, goals and timeframes and monitor all work generated by the team to ensure it always meets the required standard and is delivered appropriately on time and in budget. Follow up issues as required to ensure compliance and to build a high-performance culture.

**What we’re looking for**
- Recognised and relevant tertiary qualifications (diploma or higher) in social work, welfare, psychology, criminology, education or related field or relevant experience
- Or additionally qualifications, experience or readiness to achieve qualifications in training and assessment or a similar.
- Class C drivers licence valid in NSW
- Travel will be required.
- Working with Children Check
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
