We are currently looking to hire a Lead Drafter/Designer to join the Mine Infrastructure and Project Delivery (MIPD) team in the Newcastle office. This is an opportunity to join a growing team within the WSP Mining and Energy group. The projects are predominantly in the mining sector focussed on mine infrastructure and minerals processing but with the opportunity to work in water, hydrogen, and renewables, supporting our clients in the transition to a sustainable future.

**Mining**

Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. Working collaboratively across borders and disciplines, you’ll join a leading team working on interesting and complex projects. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.

**What you’ll do**:

- Support the successful delivery of engineering projects by our WSP practices, working with various members across the MIPD team to achieve final project outcomes.
- Lead a project team of drafters/designers to successfully complete projects on time and within budget. Ensure the quality of all drafting and modelling deliverables for projects.
- Provide technical design solutions for our local and national clients.
- Deliver projects from inception to completion, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and share your knowledge with the broader team.
- Provide ongoing support to continuously develop CAD standards for the designer/drafting team.
- Mentor junior designers.
- Support the wider resources team and other teams within the company nationally when the opportunity presents.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to a team approach and outcomes.

**What we’ll love about you**:

- Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent)
- Practical experience with AutoCAD (essential), Advance Steel (preferred) and Autocad Plant 3D
- Experience with Navisworks, Inventor and Revit not essential but highly regarded
- Previous mining/industrial infrastructure experience essential
- Previous experience running design projects with a mining focus
- Experience with executing BIM and 3D modelling project delivery methods
- Familiarity with steelwork detailing and associated software would be highly regarded
- Experience in CAD modelling of steel and concrete structures
- Familiarity with working with point cloud surveys would be highly regarded
- Exceptionally in-depth experience
