About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
- As a Court Cooridinator Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, under limited direction perform appropriate legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day operations of the Court registry.
- Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures that enhance the Court's operations and assist in achieving the Court's strategic objectives.
- Manage the listing functions of the Sunshine Magistrates' Court, monitor and assess case workloads and listing practices and procedures and develop guidelines in accordance with listing protocols.
- Supervise staff, including the promotion of professional development and rotation to maximise learning opportunities, provision of knowledge and skills and provide regular feedback regarding performance.
- Provide information and authoritative advice on court procedures, practices and protocols to all court users.
- Maintain close liaison with the Registrar and Regional Co-ordinating Magistrate. Maintain and facilitate key relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the judiciary, legal profession, police, external organisations and agencies and other court users that interface with the Court.
- Prepare and submit appropriate reports, briefs and correspondence as required.
- Assist in the supervision, security and maintenance of all court buildings and surrounds.
- Other duties as directed and commensurate with the classification of the role
