**Position Information**:
Drawing primarily from five partner primary schools, Callaghan College Wallsend Campus is a large 7-10 school with a student population of 1033. Our campuses' FOEI (family occupation and education index) value is 117 compared with the NSW average of 100. Higher FOEI values indicate greater disadvantage. 65% of our students are in the higher 2 Quarters of the FOEI and there is a significant enrolment of Aboriginal Students (15%). The school also has a growing EALD student population.

The campus has a very committed school community, executive, teaching and administrative staff. The school is a leader in the use of technology for learning, management and administration and has been recognised at both state and national level. We have active partnerships with our local primary schools, our Waratah and Jesmond Campuses, the University of Newcastle and the Muloobinbah LAECG. Our campus actively collaborates to ensure the educational success of all Aboriginal students. We have a highly successful student leadership program including our Student Representative Council and Junior AECG. The campus also provides education for 7 support classes and an additional mainstream support class as part of the rich tapestry that makes up Callaghan College Wallsend Campus.

The Campus is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices with staff professional learning being the key to ensuring this. This learning will ensure that both literacy and numeracy levels can be enhanced through improved data collection, analysis and use which underpins our belief in individualised and differentiated learning. The involvement of the whole school community in this process be will essential for success.

Appointment is to Callaghan College, initially to Wallsend Campus.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

Approval to teach Geography (7-10), History (7-10) and demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively within the HSIE faculty to design and implement HSIE programs which supports and builds innovative pedagogy.

Demonstrated capacity to lead the HSIE faculty using an evidenced based, best practice approach to improve learning outcomes and engagement for a diverse range of students.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole school improvement processes and initiatives that address school and faculty priorities.

Demonstrated capacity to lead the embedding of Aboriginal histories, perspectives and pedagogies within HSIE faculty programs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
