**Position Information**:
Mount View High School has a strong tradition of academic, creative and performing arts and sporting success. The school has a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum offering that is supported by an Academic Enrichment Program, Leos leadership development program, award winning STEM programs and quality specialist facilities including a Learning and Exhibition and Performance Centre, state of the art gymnasium, GP clinic and a wellbeing hub. Mount View High is recognised statewide as a Lighthouse School for Agriculture. Aboriginal culture is highly valued and the Amarookoba centre provides a facility for tutoring, wellbeing, cultural and mentoring programs for Aboriginal students. Senior students have the benefit of a Senior Study Tutor, Futures Centre and opportunities to explore curricula with local secondary schools and TAFE Campuses.

With a student enrolment of approximately 960 students including 20% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, the school is a proud member of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools (CCGPS) and has a close working relationship with the Korreil Wonnai Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. The school has a presence at the Cessnock business Chamber of Commerce contributing to delivering, local community, employment and training opportunities.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy and curriculum with skills to inspire and develop staff in the provision of highly innovative, high-quality teaching and learning programs, with a strong focus on personalised learning to meet school and system targets.
- Demonstrated educational leadership skills with the ability to lead staff, in all stages of their career, through high impact professional development which facilitates the implementation of engaging pedagogy.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement student-centred innovative teaching and learning within and across faculties to improve student learning outcomes to meet school and system targets.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively promote cultural identity, retention, and engagement to increase the number of Aboriginal students reaching their learning potential whilst highlighting Aboriginal education as everyone’s business.
- Demonstrated and proven capacity as a decisive, collaborative, and highly visible leader that supports and fosters genuine relationships with the whole school community to deliver excellence in outcomes for all.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
