**Position Information**:
Narellan Vale Public School is located in South Western Sydney which is within the Macarthur Network of Schools and was opened in 1997. There are currently 638 students enrolled. The student population comprises 24% of students with a language background other than English and 42 students from an Aboriginal background.
There is a core focus to build strong foundations of learning and a school wide culture of high expectations. Strong links have been forged with the local preschools and the local feeder high school. The school is supported by a hardworking Parents and Citizens Association.
The school motto of 'Together We Learn and Grow' is central to all endeavours. A commitment to continual improvement is key, with Literacy and Numeracy at the core of all learning. There is a strong culture of collaboration and a dedicated team of educators who are committed to excellence and maximising student growth and attainment. There is a collective responsibility for student improvement and a strong commitment to data analysis to drive improvement. The school is also very proud of the three Autism classes that comprise the Support Unit.
**Selection Criteria**:
- Approval to teach Special Education and / or experience teaching students with autism
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, carers and other stakeholders to develop and implement Individual Education Plans to support social, emotional, behavioural and academic learning needs of each student
- Proven capacity to inspire and support staff whilst balancing classroom teaching and the complex administrative role of being a leadership team member at Narellan Vale Public School
- Evidence of the skills to manage well being practices, complex behaviour and promote student engagement in a culture of high expectations
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
