**Purpose**:
The Employee Relations Specialist plays a key role across Council in the provision of specialist advice to the design, development (including consultation and collaboration) and implementation of best practice in:

- Remuneration - ensuring remuneration and benefits are provided in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policy;
- Grievance and dispute management - ensuring effective and timely management of matters;
- Industrial Relation practices; and
- Performance Management system - including facilitating the annual performance review program.

**About the role**:

- Be a trusted advisor to the Leadership Team, regarding Local Government (State) Award provisions and interpretation
- Provide specialist advice in the development and implementation of remuneration and benefits
- Manage grievances, disputes and other industrial matters
- Minimise industrial risk and influence a culture of continuous improvement
- Management of the performance cycle, including the annual performance review program

**About you**:

- Commitment to providing excellent service to our customers
- Experience in research approaches that determine best practice
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and critical thinking skills
- Experience managing positive relationships with unions
- Experience delivering education, coaching and training in workforce matters
- Exceptional relationship building skills including proactive stakeholder engagement
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management, IR/ER, Law, Business or other relevant field and/or professional experience in generalist Human Resources IR/ER
- Class C drivers’ license
