Facility Manager

We are seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee and lead our growing vivarium operations, which conduct preclinical in vivo pharmacokinetics, toxicology and pharmacology studies in support of our clients’ research needs. The Facility Manager is responsible for all aspects of our vivarium, including facility operations, staff supervision and staff training and vendor management.

The position is based at our South Melbourne location and is required to be onsite.
- Key Job Responsibilities_:

- **Team Leadership**: Manage all core vivarium operational activities, including husbandry. and mentor a team of research and husbandry staff, providing guidance and training to ensure high-quality health assessments and development of junior team members. Participate in interviews, onboarding, training, performance oversight and development of staff.
- **Oversight**: Supervise training and documentation for vivarium staff and serve as technical resource for in vivo procedures. Ensure vivarium SOPs, policies and guidelines in compliance with AEC/IACUC, and AAALAC guidance are developed and maintained. Ensure vivarium readiness for AEC and potential AAALAC inspections
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Ensure vivarium environmental conditions and test system usage are monitored, recorded and in compliance with protocols and guidance. Coordinate with in vivo team to help plan and schedule studies, ensuring that resources and staff are in place. Ensure studies and reports are in compliance with ICH, TGA, FDA, EMA, and other global regulatory requirements. Oversee workflow throughout the facility in accordance with NATA OECD guidelines and host regulatory and client inspections when necessary.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Monitor the operation of vivarium rooms and equipment, and immediately report faults, concerns or suggestions. Work closely with quality assurance, pharmacokinetics, toxicology and pharmacology research groups to integrate findings into overall project strategies and decision making.
- **Vendor Management**: Responsible for procurement of vivarium-related items including purchase and receipt of test systems, PHU’s, feed, bedding, enrichment and other items necessary for daily operation. Oversee and manage external sub-contracted research organizations (CROs) and laboratories to ensure the timely delivery of study sub reports and compliance with project requirements and timelines.
- **Risk Assessment**: Conduct safety risk assessments, including Safe Work Australia (SWA) requirements to improve work health and safety.
- **Documentation & Reporting**: Reviews cost estimates to ensure that all protocol/amendment driven work scope and specifications have been included in any cost/price estimation for deliverables.
- **Company Representation**: Represents the company at operational, scientific, and formal functions where applicable in a professional manner.
- **Organizational Reporting Structure**: The Facility Manager will report directly to the CEO.

**Qualifications**:

- Education_: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences or related discipline preferred.
- Experience_:

- Prior experience in a supervisory role, as well as vivarium management experience desired.
- Extensive experience in project planning to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Skills & Expertise_:

- Must be team-oriented and experienced working with other scientists
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Must be detailed-orientated and consistent in experimental approaches
- Experience managing teams, outsourcing, and vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice).

Pay: From $190,000.00 per year
