Join Our Team as an Area Sales Manager and Make Your Mark with Metcash

Ideally located in **Cairns or Townsville**, the Area Sales Manager is a trusted advisor and business partner to retailers, forming a symbolic relationship to drive retailer sales, profitability, compliance, and ultimately success. This, in turn, will be a key force to drive Metcash sales and growth. This role ‘owns’ the relationship with his or her retailer store, and act as the primary contact for all interactions with Metcash.

**What you’ll do**
- Build and develop relations with retailers, becoming the single point of contact for retailers at the store level.
- Liaise with Retail Business Manager and Sales & Ops Manager to coordinate support from State Fresh specialists, Project Managers, and RMS where necessary.
- Provide business support (e.g. help with business planning, store strategy and budgeting, commercial decisions) to ensure stores’ success
- Advise on new lines, ranging, ticketing, catalogue compliance and identify wholesale sales opportunities (incl. Charge through, Weekly best deals)
- Use available shoppers’ and stores’ data (e.g. demographic trends) to advise on additional range opportunities
- Act as conduit point to convey brand/promo information, and other Metcash retailer strategies (e.g. Base range, Merch priorities, Marketing strategy)

**What you’ll be**
- Grocery retail management knowledge and sales experience in the retail supermarket sector at store manager or multi-site level
- Expertise in drawing consumer and store insights from data to inform and conduct business management, strategic planning, and problem solving in the retail supermarket sector.
- Experience within and knowledge of the Australian Supermarket industry
- Knowledge of FMCG industry, ownership structures and the end to end supply lifecycle e.g. vendor/warehouse/hardware/retail/wholesale/independents
- Experience with stakeholder management; building and maintaining relationships with diverse groups and stakeholders both internally and externally.
