**Fixed term position for a period of 36 months**

The Goyder Institute for Water Research is a research alliance between the South Australian Government through the Department for Environment and Water, CSIRO, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia.

The Institute facilitates governments, industries and leading researchers to collaboratively identify, develop and adopt innovative solutions for complex water management challenges to ensure a sustainable future. The University of Adelaide is the Manager (legal entity) of the Institute, with its role including employing Institute staff.

The Goyder Institute has received $8 million funding from the Australian Government to deliver a regionally-based Research Hub to harness First Nations and community input and improve scientific knowledge to better manage the internationally significant Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth region in South Australia.

**A Research Hub Manager is required to ensure the successful establishment and delivery of the Research Hub.**

Working under broad direction with a degree of autonomy, the primary focus for the Research Hub Manager will be to ensure the successful establishment and delivery of the Research Hub.

This will require providing leadership and management to ensure the administrative requirements of the Research Hub are met, including the establishment of the Hub’s location, reporting to the Australian Government, organising governance meetings and providing oversight of communications activities and events.

Managing the Research Hub’s administration will include ensuring the timely preparation of progress and financial reports and reporting to the Australian Government and the Institute’s Management Board and Research Advisory Committee. Maintaining numerous constructive and productive relationships between Institute partners and stakeholders will be critical for this role.

**This position will be located at the designated Goyder Institute Research Hub facility in Goolwa, SA**

**To be successful you will need**:

- Extensive experience and excellent skills in project management, including adherence to sound practices such as project planning, executing plans, peer-review, monitoring and reporting, achieving milestones and financial management.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise work and work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills to work collegially as part of a team and with a wide range of stakeholder groups, including First Nations and the community, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and manage and resolve sensitive matters at a senior level.
- Demonstrated experience in providing administrative and management advice to ensure the successful delivery of programs.
- Proven track record of highly effective communication skills with the ability to build rapport and influence a diverse group of stakeholders.

**Desirable**
- Experience in administrative management of research organisations
- Experience in undertaking research management reporting, particularly to the Australian Government
- Knowledge and experience of the environment of the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth region

**Qualifications**
- Extensive relevant experience and project management expertise; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
