**The Role**
Joint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU) provides dynamic, static and environmental test capability for the ADF. JPEU is seeking a ‘Data Process Operator’ within the Data Acquisition Section (DAS). DAS collects a variety of test data on multiple weapon systems. This requires the deployment and operation of test equipment, the processing and reporting of data produced, and the development of novel test methods.

Key Duties:

- Process raw data to create spreadsheets and data repositories.
- Process and present data to highlight trends and anomalies.
- Develop method to process and present data for live viewing and for review.
- Develop methods to ensure data is handled in accordance with a ‘quality’ system and within Defence’s ICT and security policies.
- Ensure data back-up and storage methods.

Employees at Port Wakefield includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance Allowance of $309.85 respectively per fortnight.

**About our Team**
DAS is an essential part of the Joint Proof and Experimental Establishment (JPEU) that collects data from tests on Explosive Ordinance (EO) and associated equipment. DAS is multidisciplinary team that collects data on pressure, velocity, imagery, and precise time and location, utilising a variety of specialized and bespoke equipment. From this, DAS creates data sets, which are refined and post processed ready for the customer.

DAS works with the trials team at JPEU to set-up and design tests utilising support from our in-house workshops and instrumentation team. Deployment and operation of this specialized equipment gives our operators both a breadth and depth of knowledge. DAS has a unique role as a technical team, which both maintains and deploys equipment while operating and processing the data produced. DAS plays a pivotal role with JPEU and aids to ensure Australia’s EO is safe for operation.
- Analyse and understand data.
- Present data and communicate key ideas.
- Develop new systems to store and manage data.
- Communicate information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understand the capabilities, limitations, and specification of equipment and data.
- Communicate clearly and precisely.
- Set priorities, plan, and organise work.
- Assist and mentor colleagues, assisting with on-the-job training and development of others.

The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes. In this role, the individual will provide support to a geographically dispersed team.
