**The Role**
Joint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU) is an integral part of Explosive Ordnance Branch, Joint Logistics Command and is tasked to provide dynamic, static and environmental test and evaluation services to the Australian Defence Organisation. JPEU consists of a Headquarters at Port Wakefield SA, and two Ranges, Proof and Experimental Establishment (P&EE) Graytown VIC, and P&EE Port Wakefield SA.
We are seeking several dynamic and motivated people to take on roles of Test Officers in the areas of Climatic, Radiographic and Vibration Testing. The Environmental Test Facility carries out Destructive and Non Destructive Testing (X-Ray) of explosives ordnance that is undergoing testing at Joint Proof and Experimental Unit. Working in a small team of likeminded technical people to deliver excellent outcomes for the customer.
Employment at Port Wakefield currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of approximately $6,640.00 per annum ($255.36 per fortnight).
**About our Team**
The Environmental Test Facility (ETF) supports operational activities at the P&EE Graytown and Port Wakefield carrying out explosive ordnance test and evaluation activities. The Test Facility has a number of functions such as; climatic testing, non-destructive testing, vibration testing as well as other mechanical / impact related testing and other elements of artificial aging of defence explosives ordnance.
The ETF Manager guides the teams that are responsible for the co-ordination, set up and safe operation of the required test equipment.
Testing carried out within the ETF requires technical ability to set up testing, development of test jigs and fixtures to enable compliance to required standards and procedures. The ETF is supported within JPEU by the engineering team.
To provide the positive outcomes required the team works with exciting technology that aids in the provision of test outcomes, such as state of the art conditioning chambers, vibration shakers and radiographic capabilities.
They will have the ability to interpret technical standards, produce technical reports, possess a high degree technical skills and utilise equipment provided to complete the tasks required to capture data required to inform the test report that the customer is seeking.
They will have a keen eye for detail and be able to identify potential issues within the data / test to pinpoint issues that may indicate a problem with the explosives ordnance, undergoing test.
They will be an excellent communicator and be able to influence out comes to ensure that ‘Best Outcomes for Defence’ are provided as required.
