Communications Officer

About the role
No 2 days are the same as our communications officer. One day you'll be tabling an Auditor-General report in parliament, and the next coordinating a client event, proofreading a blog post, or managing an agency to deliver data visualisations for our website.
If you have exceptional attention to detail, an interest in learning digital communication tools, and like building relationships with others across the business, this is the role for you.
This is a permanent role with a flexible and hybrid way of working.
**Your tasks include**:
- coordinating the production and tabling (publishing) of reports to parliament, including working closing with audit teams on timelines and proofreading final documents
- uploading content on our website and intranet site
- editing and proofreading blog posts, fact sheets and presentations
- managing events for our clients both in-house and at external venues
- designing icons and graphics for our publications using Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and Canva
- assisting the Communications Director in their provision of communications strategy, corporate publications such as our annual report, campaigns, and strategic guidance for executive management
- multi-tasking to complete a variety of tasks at any one time
- bringing new ideas to our team on how we can share the insights from our work.
About us
On behalf of the Auditor-General, we provide insights to over 600 state and local government clients on how to deliver better public services for Queenslanders. As the state's independent auditor, we are vital to Queensland's integrity system of government. Innovation, teamwork, and professional service delivery are at the heart of what we do.
You'll work in a team with the Senior Communications Officer and Communications Director, under the leadership of our Assistant Auditor-General for Parliamentary Services. We work both in the office at 53 Albert Street, Brisbane, and remotely from home. The salary range is: $92,500 - $100,500.
Next Steps
- Your CV
- A cover letter as why you would like to join our team
- Possession of an appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as journalism, communications or editing is highly regarded.
The role description also provides additional information including qualification requirements, pre-employment checks, and the probation period.
For consideration of permanent appointment at QAO you must
- be an Australian citizen,
- be a permanent resident in Australia with permission to work in Australia or
- hold a valid visa with permission to work in Australia
