You will manage a team of specialist technical resources in the delivery of complex technical solutions and provide high level mentoring to the team, ensuring service delivery meets current and future client demands
As the infrastructure team leader, you are responsible for planning, directing and designing LAQ's IT infrastructure while simultaneously managing the infrastructure team. You will be responsible for the day to day activities of the infrastructure team including providing expert advice, coaching and training to the system administrators and network administrator.
This role is part of the Corporate Services Division and supports the team to:
- Plan, manage and design LAQ IT infrastructure while simultaneously managing the Infrastructure team responsible for maintaining that infrastructure
- Ensure all relevant team statistic are properly collected and stored, including performance metrics, service levels, server status and both planned and unplanned system outages.
- Provide expert leadership and mentoring to a group of ICT professionals involved in the operational support and maintenance of a diverse range of enterprise class servers, virtualisation and backups.
- Manage the design of highly complex and multi-faceted infrastructure based systems including server and network configuration and layout; environment planning and design; firewall planning; and user privileges, ensuring compliance with project requirements and safety engineering standards.
- Manage the design and ongoing enhancements of a highly complex Wide Area Network, including many outsourced arrangements.
- Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
- Determine the extent to which solutions perform 'as required' within the current environment to ensure that future solutions meet anticipated demand.
- Ensure best practice strategies, procedures and practices in the Infrastructure Team are developed, implemented and reviewed.
- Design and implement short and long term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Provide leadership to staff and contractors and encourage a team approach to achieve organisational goals including the provision of performance feedback to staff/contractors.
- Actively participate in the identification and management of infrastructure related risks and issues.
- Oversee the ongoing development of operational standards and procedures which ensure effective performance and quality in services delivered to clients.
- Work closely with other teams within ICT to manage collaborative relationships and consultations with senior stakeholders across LAQ and external technology vendors to develop, implement and integrate required changes to architecture, design and management of ICT infrastructure.
- Ensure IT policies, procedures and manuals are kept up to date and amended as necessary.
- Ensure training is conducted within the team and staff are cross-skilled appropriately.
- Manage and lead projects including resources, budget and activities, system analysis, design and testing.
- Maintain a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.
