**Job Description**:
The Group HSE Engineering Manager, is an integral part of the Global HSE team, that champions _Our Purpose_ by managing and monitoring BlueScope’s group HSE engineering strategies, in order to strengthen our commitment to HSE excellence.
Reporting to the Global Health and Safety Manager, this position works closely with BlueScope’s HSE Teams, Operational Leaders and external bodies where required, to influence the continuous improvement of practical HSE engineering solutions aligned to BlueScope’s critical risk areas and business unit priorities.
**The Opportunity**
You will be accountable for ensuring that BlueScope’s Codes of Practices and supporting material are in line with BlueScope’s HSE Plan and Strategy. This includes ensuring HSE materials account for different cultures, legislations and learning experiences.
You will help identify global supply chain risks and opportunities, managing relationships with HSE and operational leaders, industry partners and associations. You will also provide pragmatic engineering solutions to support the businesses in effective risk controls, minimising repeat incidents and sharing learnings across the business.
You will also utilise and make sense of technical data from systems and stakeholder commentary and create HSE Risk Control insights for internal and external reporting disclosure requirements in a broad range of areas such as sustainability reporting, regular HSE reporting, business results and Executive Lead Team papers.
In addition, you will be an ambassador of learning and knowledge sharing, building HSE risk capability globally, demonstrating a can-do attitude to challenging business problems and establishing foundations of for best practices, that help evolve our way of working, for the future.
**Your Background**
We’re expecting you to have a passion for engineering problem solving and be able to listen to and understand the operational opportunities and impacts of engineering advice. You will demonstrate a strong level of knowledge of operations, logistics or mechanical engineering fields and possess some exposure to HSE and risk concepts.
You are a tertiary-qualified engineering practitioner, who is able to work independently and takes accountability for meeting regular deadlines to the upmost level of quality. Importantly, you are someone who thrives on demonstrating a continuous improvement approach in a collaborative and effective manner.
**Work Location**
Location is flexible, although the ability to work effectively with the eastern states of Australia time zones is imperative.
