Our Regulation Directorate is responsible for driving the Government’s regulation and policy initiatives and ensuring appropriate compliance, behaviour and safe access across our transport networks. This includes a variety of functions such as vehicle inspections, vehicle engineering services and standards, delivery of the Vehicle Identity Assessment Station (VIDAS) and Accident Towing.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
In this role, you will be responsible for checking vehicles to ensure their identity, origin and compliance with regulations. This includes inspecting the vehicle identification numbers (VIN) and reviewing paperwork like registration and title documents. You will prepare detailed reports of your findings and work closely with other agencies and a variety of stakeholders, while ensuring database integrity.
You’ll get to work across a variety of locations and settings, with a diverse range of customers. You will be responsible for safely seizing suspect or stolen vehicles from clients as needed, ensuring adherence to the 'chain of evidence' process and providing evidence in court when required.
**What We’re Looking For**
For success in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and qualities:
- **Assessment Skills -** confidence to conduct vehicle identity assessment and understand the applicable laws such as the _Motor Vehicle Act 1959_, _Road Traffic Act 1961_, Vehicle Standards Rules, and Australian Design Rules.
- **Technical Advice -** Provide operational advice and specific technical skills that enhance program delivery.
- **Investigation Assistance -** Support investigations by maintaining records, contributing to operational programs, and performance benchmarking.
- **Attention to Detail and Problem Solving -** ability to identify discrepancies and ask questions, ensuring documentation and inspections are high quality. Capable of addressing issues that arise.
- **Communication -** communicate clearly with customers and stakeholders, discussing inspection outcomes and resolving conflicts sensitively.
- **Teamwork -** Supervise and train staff, ensuring quality and timeliness of work and contribute as a collaborative team member to achieve great customer service.
- **Customer Focused -** Listen to customers and respond appropriately, adhering to processes with clear and empathetic communication and tact.
**Qualifications/Experience**
Post secondary education / qualifications with a focus on either or similar to the below will be highly regarded:
- Compliance and/or Investigations or equivalent experience; or Automotive or Motor Mechanics or equivalent experience.
- **Special Conditions and Requirements**
- A National Police Check (NPC) which is required to be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Other specific requirements of the role:
- **Driver’s License**: You must have a current Class C driver’s license.
- **Work Hours**: Work is 152 hours over four weeks, usually Monday to Friday
- **Uniform**: You will need to wear the uniform provided by the Agency.
- **Location**: Initial location will be based at Regency Park in the Adelaide metropolitan area, operating from Lonsdale inspection facility and on-site car yard visits when rostered to do so.
**Remuneration**
**OPS3 -** $67,589 to $72,033 per annum + superannuation

We have multiple vacancies that are available, temporary appointments for a period up to two years.
We have immediate vacancies that are available, and we are recruiting and establishing a pool of applicants who may be employed over the coming 12-month period. This pool will remain active up until 30 November 2025.
