THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting newly created role The Chief of Staff - Executive Office partners closely with the Executive Director to oversee the effective operation of the Executive Office. The Chief of Staff assists and communicates with the Garvan Leadership Team, senior leaders and department heads in decision-making, program management and initiative implementation and acts as a communication liaison for the Executive Director with senior leaders, staff and external stakeholders.
**Salary**: Up to $160,000 + 10.5% superannuation + salary packaging
Employment Type: Full time 2-year term contract

WHAT YOU WILL DO- Partner closely with the Executive Director to assist in the daily operations of the Executive Office, including determining key priorities, activity planning and preparation for key engagements.- Support the Executive Director in decision making by facilitating the decision-making process, and liaising with stakeholders to gather relevant information.- Communicate on behalf of the Executive Director, serving as a liaison and following up on action items agreed in meetings.- Ensure relevant Institute initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to staff and stakeholders to drive transparent timely information and employee engagement.- Support the Executive Director and their Executive Assistant to handle queries and requests sent to the Executive Office, developing action plans and assisting with preparation and dissemination of communications.- Plan staff meetings, develop run sheets and support materials (including PowerPoint presentations)- Build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders across the institute, boards of directors, partners and donors.
ABOUT YOU
The key skills and experience include:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in management and/or administration related discipline or equivalent- Significant experience (5+ years) in a strategic management or executive role- High order critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience and skills in liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution with staff at all levels.- Ability to maintain strict confidence, handle competing priorities, and remain diplomatic under pressure- Experience in organising and directing teams and departments- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills- Applicants should demonstrate commitment to cultural diversity and ethical practice principles, and demonstrate knowledge of equal employment opportunity and workplace health and safety, appropriate to the level of the appointment.
