Evolution Mining were founded in late 2011 and have operations across Australia and Canada.
We currently operate five mines across NSW, QLD and WA and Red Lake, Ontario with a leadership team that continually focus on embedding a values driven culture aligned with our company vision to create a premier, global gold company.
Our Group operations are based in Sydney CBD providing support across all sites (including on site) in several key areas including our Sustainability team overseeing the Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Social Responsibility portfolio, positioning Evolution as a leader in sustainable mining activities.
**About the role**
As Group Manager - Environment, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of business outcomes in Environmental Compliance, Permit Approvals, Acquisitions and Integration and key business planning including integration of Sustainability into Life of Mine (LOM) Planning and Stakeholder/Regulator engagement. This role plays a key lead in our decarbonisation strategy and Net Zero Commitment. Key result areas in this role include:
- Resource, manage and mentor a team of environmental professionals to enable the business to effectively mitigate environmental related risk now and into the future (transition risk) and deliver strategic improvement projects in line with sustainability and business goals.
- Lead and support of group environmental risk management and improvement programs and develop and implement the group environmental assurance and audit program, providing governance to ensure processes in place to manage compliance with legal obligations and Evolution Standards.
- Act as SME providing strategic and operational advice and leadership on material and emerging environmental matters to the Evolution Board and Management Team including Operational Life of Mine Planning & Capital (CER); Shared Value and Major Projects (e.g., Pre/Feasibility Studies, Community Initiatives); Business Development; Acquisition, Divestments and Integration
- Build capability through leadership of the Environmental Community of Practice, collaborate to provide a support and coaching role aligned with the ethos of sustainability integrated to everything we do.
- Enable the business to meet annual disclosure and statutory reporting requirements including input to annual sustainability disclosures related to environmental performance and management and preparation and submission of environmental regulatory reports where aggregated at the business and or regional level (e.g. NGERs)
- Engage in external forums and industry working groups (such as OMA, NSWMC, QRC, CME WA) related to environmental aspects to influence future global, industry and or regulatory policy that coupled impact the portfolio, communicating impacts of reform back into the business.
- Demonstrate and live behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values (Safety, Accountability,
Excellence, Respect) and commit to maintaining health, safety, statutory, regulatory and licensing standards and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout Evolution.
Support and lead Due Diligence and Integration activities linked to growth, acquisitions, and divestments.
**About you**
In this key role, to be successful, you will hold a relevant degree (Science/Engineering/Similar), ideally supported by a business degree, related post graduate qualifications and/or commensurate resources industry experience managing environmental risk at both Site and Corporate level.
You will need to demonstrate the below:
- Natural affinity and competency in Stakeholders engagement: establishing and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally from Board to Site level, industry working groups and forums alongside government organisations (State and Federal) in both Australia and Canada.
- High level written and presentation skills with specific focus on report preparation and input, providing strategic and technical advice on environmental matters and compliance issues and ensure functional activities align with operational/project priorities and risk profiles (e.g. business planning and evaluation, closure planning, project governance etc.)
