What’s the job?
Reporting to the Head of Library and Information Services, the Library Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the work of the Library Technician team and the day-to-day activities of the library. They directly supervise the Library Technicians in the provision of core operational and technical library services to students and staff: assisting students to locate information resources for their studies and supporting students in the development of information skills. They ensure optimal efficiency of library processes and procedures, and consistency of these procedures across a national service. They provide guidance in management of the Library’s on campus spaces, and work with Discipline Librarians to ensure the smooth running of services delivered by the library.
Day-to-day accountabilities:
- Advance the Library’s strategic objectives by coordinating all aspects of the Library’s front facing operations
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective and equitable provision of high-quality information and lending services for all staff and students
- Provide guidance to the national Library Technician team, with particular emphasis on excellence in customer service, reference assistance, circulation duties
- Build an appropriate spread of skills across the Library Technician team, leading by example and working with the team at an operational level
- Develop and support a collaborative and communicative environment within the Library Technician team, coordinating Library Technician team meetings and communications
- Foster a culture of innovation and improvement within the Library Technician team, and, in collaboration with Library Technicians, identify problems and issues and recommend process improvements
- Ensure annual individual performance and development plans are effectively implemented across the Library Technician team.

Who you are- A Diploma of Library Information Services or equivalent is required for this position, along with relevant library work experience.- Sound understanding of data analysis and be able to make data-driven decisions to evaluate the effectiveness of library services and resources.- Previous experience leading a team- Demonstrated experience in a university library is preferable- Passionate about student experience- Demonstrated reporting skills
This is a full time role that can based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide.
