Exciting opportunity to join Forensic Intervention Services as an **Intern Clinician**, on a 24 Month Fixed Term basis.
**What does Forensic Intervention Services do?**
As a division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services is a specialist program area that provides service users in custody and in the community with evidence-based screening, assessment, and offence-specific intervention services to support their rehabilitation. In doing so, Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
**What will the Intern Clinician do?**
The Intern Clinician is responsible for providing support to a range of clinical services state-wide, including screenings, assessments, and group-based intervention programs to those who have perpetrated alcohol and other drugs (AOD), sexual and/or violent offences.
Some of your duties will include:
- Learning to undertake risk assessment regarding AOD, sexual and violent offending, clinically interview service users and determine appropriate treatment pathways, under appropriate supervision.
- Facilitate/co-facilitate group-based clinical intervention programs for service users with AOD, sexual and/or violent offences, as required and under relevant supervision.
- Complete comprehensive case notes in a timely fashion.
- Assist in the preparation of treatment plans, treatment reports, and risk assessment reports for internal and external stakeholders as required and under relevant supervision.
**To be successful in the Intern Clinician role, you will have**:
- Knowledge of and commitment to the use of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model of therapeutic intervention.
- Developing knowledge and skills in conducting assessments and developing case formulation (ideally for forensic cohorts).
**What skills should the Intern Clinician have?**
- A basic knowledge of and commitment to the use of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model of therapeutic intervention.
- Willingness to gain knowledge and skills in conducting assessments and developing case formulation.
**Qualifications**
- Registration as a Provisional Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency; or
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW); or
- A master's degree in psychotherapy and eligible for registration with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA); or
- A master's degree in counselling and eligible for membership with Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA); or
- Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses; or
- Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
- A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
