Exciting opportunity to join Forensic Intervention Services as an Intern Clinician, on an 12 Month Fixed Term basis.
**What does Forensic Intervention Services do?**
As a division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services is a specialist program area that provides service users in custody and in the community with evidence-based screening, assessment, and offence-specific intervention services to support their rehabilitation. In doing so, Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
**What will the Intern Clinician do?**
The **Intern Clinician** is responsible for providing support to a range of clinical services state-wide, including screenings, assessments, and group-based intervention programs to those who have perpetrated sexual and/or violent offences.
Some of your duties will include:
- Learning to undertake risk assessment regarding sexual and violent offending, clinically interview service users and determine appropriate treatment pathways, under appropriate supervision.
- Facilitate/co-facilitate group-based clinical intervention programs for service users with sexual and violent offences, as required and under relevant supervision.
- Complete comprehensive case notes in a timely fashion.
- Assist in the preparation of treatment plans, treatment reports, and risk assessment reports for internal and external stakeholders as required and under relevant supervision.
To be successful in the Intern Clinician role, you will have:
- An increased knowledge of and commitment to the use of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model of therapeutic intervention.
- Increased knowledge and skills in conducting assessments and developing case formulation for forensic cohorts.
**What skills should the Intern Clinician have?**
- A basic knowledge of and commitment to the use of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model of therapeutic intervention.
- Willingness to gain knowledge and skills in conducting assessments and developing case formulation.
**Qualifications**
- Registered as a Provisional Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or;
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW); or
- Credentialed as Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses; or
- Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
- A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
