**About the role**

Council is looking for a motivated and experienced contract manager to oversee Council’s waste and recycling contracts. This role will also oversee our illegal dumping program and commercial waste service and deliver related projects, programs and reporting identified within Council’s waste strategy and community strategic plan.

In this role you will play an integral role in encouraging the evolution of an organisational culture that supports and adopts a sustainable approach to operational management and service delivery and work on programs identified in our Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Managing Councils collection, recycling, processing and disposal contracts as well as illegal dumping program.
- Leading a team in developing and delivering programs related to Council’s waste contracts and illegal dumping.
- Ensuring direct reports perform effectively and efficiently, meeting KPI’s and working collaboratively with other areas of Council.
- Undertake research to support the development and continual improvement of contract management and delivery in Waste and Recycling.

**About the person**

The successful applicant will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in waste management (ideally contract management) or environmental or sustainability field and/or a minimum 5 years’ experience in waste management in a government context.
- Demonstrated experience with the development and/or management of waste contracts
- An ability to think strategically and innovate to resolve complex challenges
- An ability to develop, evaluate and present complex business cases including financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration and teamwork, building relationships with direct reports and people at all levels both internally and externally
