Waste Development Officer - Local Government Organisation - Contract Opportunity

Local Government organisation seeking a waste development officer to join their growing resource recovery team for a 12-month contract position.

**Your new role**

This role will involve helping to ensure new developments in the LGA maximise resource recovery opportunities. This will be done by using the latest innovations in waste storage design and collection infrastructure including Localised Automated Waste Collection System (LAWCS). Responsibilities will include assisting in the research and review of various waste storage and collection technologies, in order to contribute to LEP and DCP waste management plans. The role will also involve a large collaborative element, working closely with Development Assessment Officers/Development Engineers on waste matters, LAWCS technical issues and general DA enquires as well as assisting with the general day-to-day waste management, policy, and planning activities required.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Tertiary qualifications in waste / waste management or environmental & sustainability field and/or a minimum 5 years’ experience in waste development or management in a government context.
- Demonstrated experience with the development and/or management of waste contracts.
- An ability to think strategically and innovate to resolve complex challenges.
- An ability to develop, evaluate and present complex business cases including financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration and teamwork, building relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally.
