What to Expect
- The Energy Market Analyst is a role in Tesla’s Megapack sales and business development team that will understand the fundamental drivers of energy markets and prepare internal analysis of electricity price forecasts across the Asia Pacific region. They will develop and manage internal future price curves and provide innovative revenue strategies to support Tesla’s commercial activities.
- This position is can be based out of either our Melbourne or Sydney offices.
What You’ll Do
- Analyse key drivers and trends of energy markets across APAC regions and perform fundamental analyses of the various electricity price forecasts.
- Contribute to the development of and regular update of Tesla internal price curves through engagement of consultants in the delivery of high-quality modelling and analysis of price curves.
- Utilise your expertise in regional electricity markets to validate model assumptions and results and perform a comparative analysis of Tesla internal price curves against various sources.
- Conduct industry intelligence analysis on BESS developments and operations across the APAC jurisdictions/markets to assist development of innovative market penetration strategies.
- Support the development of innovative BESS revenue strategies and models in transitional and new markets across APAC regions.
- Evaluate the fundamentals of investment opportunities by performing financial analysis and qualitative evaluations, including the investigation of market rules relevant to a given market to develop detailed valuation models.
- Present and communicate complex market intel and analytical insights internal teams including senior management.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Business or Finance
- At least 2+ years’ experience in the Australian energy sector
- Python and Plexos software experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills; experienced in building strong working relationships and comfortable interacting with Senior Management
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and work streams and comfortable working across multiple markets in parallel with changing priorities.
- Highly driven, can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deal with ambiguity based on a “can-do”, solutions-oriented attitude.
- Personal values and motivations aligned with Tesla’s mission.
