**About IEEFA**

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Research, interpret, and publish reports, analyses, and commentaries covering Japan’s energy sectors. The primary focus of this role will be liquefied natural gas (LNG) and proposed alternative energy sources, such as hydrogen and ammonia.
- Critically analyze the future of Japan’s energy sector from economic, financial, and technological perspectives. Review the Government of Japan’s energy-related policies and programs to understand potential outcomes of the country’s energy transition.
- Assess Japan’s financial (and other) support for energy sectors and transitions in other Asian countries, whether via public funding sources or commercial financial institutions.
- Conduct financial analysis, financial modelling, and market analysis in Excel.
- Build industry, government, regulatory, and financial contacts to understand different perspectives that better inform research.
- Establish and engage with relevant stakeholders in private and public sectors across Japan and represent IEEFA at meetings and industry events.
- Provide insights to the media and respond to interview requests to assist in building an informed public media narrative on Japan’s energy transition, specifically on LNG-related issues.
- Create and update PowerPoint presentations for public, media, and industry briefings.

**Required Skills & Qualifications
- A degree in finance, economics, accounting, or engineering and/or with professional certifications (e.g. CFA) or appropriate and relevant market-oriented experience in lieu of those degrees
- Five or more years’ relevant experience in finance, market analysis, and/or energy or related fields
- Knowledge of and/or experience with the LNG sector
- Experience analyzing financial reporting, equities, and investment portfolios
- Competence in presenting insights on companies’ financial performance
- Expert understanding of finance, economics, and quantitative analysis
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with good political judgment both orally and in writing

**Term & Schedule
Full time on a 12-month fixed term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement. Remuneration based on experience.
