**The Opportunity**
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) currently has multiple vacancies that we need to fill to ensure we deliver a generous, effective and targeted Official Development Assistance (ODA) program, at a time when it has never mattered more.
This recruitment process will be used to fill current vacancies, as well as vacancies which may arise over the coming 18 months.
DFAT’s Development Policy and Program Enabling Divisions are seeking multiple dynamic and high-performing officers across a range of capabilities, including policy, programming, technical and communication skills, to work in these high-profile and fast-moving divisions, or in similar roles across DFAT.
DFAT’s **Development Policy Division** is at the centre of strategic policy and advice on Australia’s development program. We support the Government to make, monitor, meet and communicate its ODA budget commitments and policies, some of the most important and flexible strategic tools for foreign policy and international development. We manage a range of global programs and partnerships in education, international scholarships and with NGOs.
DFAT’s **Program Enabling Division** provides critical support and assurance functions that underpin the effective delivery of ODA. The Division works on all parts of the policy and project cycle for the ODA program - development policy and strategy; portfolio planning; investment design; procurement and contracting; risk and safeguards; monitoring and evaluation. The Division also plays a critical role in building development capability, a top priority of the new Labor Government.
As an **APS4 Program Enabling Officer**, you will have a background in the development policy, budgeting, program enabling, and/or communications field or a willingness to learn.
This role may include technical tasks; stakeholder engagement; and client-focused service delivery. You will undertake procedural, clerical, administrative support or operational tasks.
You will be a good communicator, and able to establish and maintain networks while maintaining exemplary standards of conduct, integrity, and professionalism.
As an **APS5 Officer**, you will have a demonstrated background in development policy, budgeting, program enabling, and/or communications or a proven willingness to learn.
You will undertake work that is moderately complex to complex or sensitive in nature and operate under direction. You will have the ability to undertake research and analysis, as well as procedural, clerical, administrative support or operational tasks.
You will be a good communicator, able to establish and maintain networks while maintaining exemplary standards of conduct, integrity, and professionalism.
