**The Team**
The firm's Knowledge & Expertise team is responsible for the capture, distribution and effective use of MinterEllison enterprise information assets to drive digital transformation, innovation and client engagement. The team manages legal research, business research, precedents as well as our intranet and collaboration platforms. The team provides resources for the sharing and reusing of knowledge and upskills lawyers in using these resources.
**The Role**
An exciting new position has been created reporting to the Director of Knowledge Management where you will have the opportunity to manage a national team of Precedent Consultants who provide technical support in the development of precedent templates. You will also be involved in overseeing key projects which form part of the firm's Knowledge Management Strategy focused on creating a culture of knowledge sharing and improving the knowledge management experience for our employees & clients. This opportunity is open to full-time or part-time (preferably no less than 4 days per week) arrangement in either our Melbourne or Sydney office.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain and promote the firm’s precedent collections and knowledge repositories
- Work with lawyers and consultants from the firm's Business Units to create and capture practice-related knowledge content and encourage a culture of knowledge sharing
- Coordinate with lawyers and consultants to ensure that knowledge materials are maintained and updated to reflect changes in applicable laws, regulations and best practices
- Work with lawyers and consultants to establish efficient processes to capture key knowledge artefacts at all stages of an engagement
- Work with a cross-functional group of team members and senior leaders in Australia to support the new KM Strategy
- Arrange group meetings, facilitate opportunities for improvement, provide advice and project managing agreed firmwide initiatives (eg electronic execution)
- Review existing processes and procedures, technology and resources and make recommendations for improvements
- Draft minor updates to precedents
- Facilitate teams to prepare firmwide guides on new areas of law
- Liaise with fee-earners to promote awareness of, assess and capture key precedents from client transactions
- Develop annual knowledge management plans for business units which align with their broader strategic priorities
- Support the practice groups with advising key clients on the impact of legal and regulatory developments
- Work with L&D to facilitate internal legal training programs targeted towards lawyers and consultants
- Work with the team to implement strategies to ensure the firm’s intellectual property is captured and retained
- Conduct market scanning to assess best fit technology solutions to improve efficiency and engagement within knowledge management
**More About You**
Essential experience and qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer (5+ years), ideally with either experience in a large Australian law firm or inhouse legal department
- Current practising certificate (highly desirable)
- Experience and success in building, leading and developing teams, and nurturing strong connectivity within the team and across the firm more broadly
- Solutions focused, enthusiastic, have the ability to drive initiatives and take ownership of projects
- Capacity to manage varying levels of tasks - from thinking strategically to troubleshooting detail where needed
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Superb time management, judgment, decision-making and problem solving skills
- Aptitude and the ability to quickly learn and adopt new systems and software
- Ability to identify and advise teams on changes required to precedent documents resulting from legislative changes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, persuasion and interpersonal skills
- Excellent drafting skills and a passion for quality work product
- Strong analytical, diagnostic and innovative thinking skills
- Strong project and time management skills including the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
