Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Immigration Lawyer or Registered Migration Agent (MARA)
to join our growing Sydney office starting from
December 2025
. The successful candidate will bring
at least 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE)
and demonstrate the ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with one of our Accredited Specialists. Proficiency in
Mandarin and English
is highly regarded, given our diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a wide range of immigration matters independently, from visa applications to complex review cases and ministerial intervention requests.
- Provide strategic legal advice to individuals and corporate clients.
- Draft high-quality submissions, legal arguments, and supporting documentation.
- Represent clients in tribunals, hearings, and consultations.
- Supervise and mentor our junior lawyer as needed.
- Stay up to date with migration laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with the legal team to deliver seamless case management.
- Maintain professional obligations, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal systems and processes.
What We're Looking For
- Current Australian Practicing Certificate (for lawyers) OR MARA registration.
- Minimum
3 years PQE
in immigration law (lawyers) OR 3+ years' experience as a Registered Migration Agent. - Proven ability to handle complex immigration matters with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handling multiple cases simultaneously.
- Strong drafting, advocacy, and legal research skills.
- Excellent client communication and relationship management.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in both Mandarin and English is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with case management software (e.g., Migration Manager) and productivity tools (Microsoft Office, AI tools such as ChatGPT, CoPilot).
- Must have full work rights if a temporary visa holder.
- Sydney-based candidates only — Full-time remote work is not offered for this role.
