Legal (Knowledge Management) Assistant

Kennedys is seeking a Knowledge Management Assistant to join our team in Sydney. You'll work alongside our Australian Knowledge Manager to help develop and manage the knowledge systems and related content for the firm.
This role is perfect for candidates who have completed their law degree and are passionate about knowledge management. Whether you're a current legal secretary eager to transition into the knowledge management field or someone looking to apply your legal background in a new way, we'd love to hear from you.
About The Team
Kennedys has been operating in Australia since 2006 and currently employs around 250 people locally, with a global workforce of approximately 2,900. We handle both contentious and non-contentious matters across a broad range of industries, providing claim and coverage advice to insurers and insureds worldwide.
The firm's global Knowledge Management (KM) team delivers across three service areas: precedents and knowledge services, technical legal training, and information services. The KM team in Australia was established in 2022 to manage local KM systems, supporting all four offices with an initial focus on precedents and legal training.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and formatting precedent documents drafted by the Knowledge Manager
- Loading precedents into the precedents database and updating KM precedent management records
- Assisting with monitoring and actioning updates to court form precedents
- Troubleshooting document formatting issues
- Arranging and facilitating internal CPD sessions organised by the Knowledge Manager, including diary management, room booking, and ensuring room set-up and catering as required
- Managing attendance records for internal CPD
- Assisting with subscription licence management, including invoice support
- Supporting lawyers with online access to resources
- Managing loose-leaf filing
- Assisting with KM administration and record-keeping including precedent statistics and metadata, usage reports, resource registers, and general records
- Assisting with content authoring and managing KM intranet pages
About You
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within the legal industry
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word formatting
- Strong attention to detail
- A committed, responsive, and proactive approach to work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
