Due to exponential growth of our organisation, we now have an opportunity for a General Manager Real Time Network Operations to join our Operations and Service Delivery division through a period of rapid transformation.
**About the role**:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will participate as a member of the Operations and Service Delivery (OSD), Senior Leadership Team in achieving the division’s objectives through the delivery of real time operational priorities in accordance with national regulations and frameworks.
In this critical role, you will lead the real-time activities for the Queensland transmission network, including the real time control room, incident and emergency management and planned access to the network. You will play an active role in representing the Queensland jurisdiction across various operational forums in the National Electricity Market.
You will identify and implement new processes, technologies, and training strategies to ensure real-time network operations continues to develop and evolve to the changing dynamics of the transmission network through the energy transition. With an emphasis on building and imbedding high-performance culture and capability, you will consistently drive and role-model key leadership behaviours.
You will work in conjunction with the Strategic Network Operations General Manager to implement strategies to meet Powerlink’s transmission network priorities, enabling optimal transmission network operations for the renewable SuperGrid.
In addition, you will:
- Lead culture improvement activities, plan and drive the development of staff within RTNO group, working within the organisational training and development frameworks to ensure workforce planning of internal capability, skills and technological changes will deliver ‘best for Powerlink’
- Lead Powerlink’s stakeholder relationships for real time operations in incident and emergency events and manage external stakeholder engagements with the AER, AEMO, Queensland Fire Service (QFS) and Energy Queensland Limited (EQL).
- Develop and lead strategies and implementation of real time operations and outage management network procedures.
- Lead and oversee safe access to the transmission network including relevant systems, procedures, engineering analysis including Generator Performance System (GPS) testing, configuration, outage management and compliance with the National Energy Rules (NER).
- Lead and manage accountabilities as Powerlink’s representative as the ‘Jurisdictional System Security Coordinator (JSSC)’ for Queensland to manage Powerlink’s obligations in the National Electricity Market Emergency Management Framework (NEMEMF).
- Ensure that all applicable organisational and externally-imposed governance, compliance, and assurance requirements are satisfied.
**About you**:
You will ideally have degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering or have demonstrated extensive applied experience working within real time network operations.
You will have a second to none focus on safety with an inclusive and collaborative approach to leading strategies and stakeholders;
- Demonstrated success in translating business strategy into operational plans, ensuring that planning demonstrates cost-effective delivery of key outcomes and clear alignment to business strategy.
- Demonstrated success delivering corporate plans across a major business function in a complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the technical dimensions of operating the HV and telecommunication network including AER Service standards.
- Demonstrated skills managing network events and providing timely decision making in a complex environment, providing an essential service through critical infrastructure.
