The South Australian Rifle Association (SARA) now has a rare opportunity for a self-motivated Operations Manager to join the organisation in a part-time capacity.

**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the SARA Board, you will be responsible for working closely with the Association’s Board, Staff and Clubs to develop, implement, and help achieve the goals and objectives within the organisation’s Strategic and Operational plan.

In this dynamic Operations Manager role, you will communicate regularly with Clubs and members to provide support, direction, and leadership. In your pursuit of outcomes that will benefit the SARA community, you will have direct and frequent engagement with Government and Association bodies.

Other key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

- Managing staff and works with volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the association
- Ensuring administrative processes are in place so that contractual and compliance regulations of the organisation meet the legislative requirements of the Federal, State and Local Government Laws, bylaws, and regulations
- Working with the Board to regularly review and update policies and procedures to meet any changes in legislative requirements and other needs of the association
- Maintaining and regularly updating a register of membership, including renewal of membership
- Ensuring the effective running of the organisation including any reporting to State and Commonwealth Government bodies, and National Bodies for financial and operational compliance
- Overseeing the organisation and management of the Association’s events
- Working with the Chair to prepare agenda, take and distribute minutes in a timely manner
- Providing the Board with timely and accurate reports as required

This position is initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract.

**About You**

To effectively communicate with the SARA Board, Clubs, Government bodies, and members, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to develop and foster longstanding relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

In addition to the above, to be successful in this role you will have/be:

- Demonstrated experience of 3+ years in a similar Operations Manager, Business Manager or Senior Administrator position
- Experience in reporting directly to a Board and understanding of governance requirements and compliance obligations
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety standards
- A flexible approach and high integrity with an ability to manage confidential information
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- High-level IT experience including Microsoft Office suite

Although not essential, it would be great if you had:

- An understanding of firearms, hunting and target shooting and the relevant laws and regulations
- Experience with event coordination
- Experience with social media to manage the SARA social pages

The South Australian Rifle Association (SARA) was formed as a sporting body in January 1861. The South Australian Rifle Association controls the sport of Long-Range Target Shooting within South Australia. There are 34 affiliated clubs operating from 27 rifle ranges all over the state and Broken Hill offering easy access to their great sport. Their Mission is to provide a safe, educational and encouraging environment, to promote firearm awareness and safety, and to facilitate the sport of Competitive Target Rifle Shooting at all levels.

The South Australian Rifle Association is affiliated with the National Rifle Association of Australia. Locally they are a member of the SA Shooting Association, the SA Sports Federation, and have a close working relationship the Department of Recreation and Sport. They also liaise closely with the SA Police on firearms matters.
