Reporting to the Senior Manager Group Risk, the role of the Group Risk Manager is to support embedding and continuously improving AGL’s Risk Management Framework. You will be a key interface with first line business functions and be part of the Group Risk Compliance & Insurance (GRCI) team who influences and supports the business to adopt best practice approaches to risk management, risk transference and compliance, while maintaining a flexible and commercial approach to the management of AGL’s risks.

What you’ll be doing
- Proactively work to embed the principles and objectives of AGL’s risk management framework within the business
- Provide proactive and commercially appropriate advice to Business Units in relation to their risks, helping them to mature their approach to identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring of risks and control
- Build and foster relationships with first line stakeholders, including risk and compliance representatives
- Be a trusted advisor to the business to strengthen risk culture, provide insights on key risks, controls, metrics, and trends
- Manage and deliver agreed objectives to mature AGL’s risk management capability
- Support the GRCI team in the delivery of Strategic Risk (Tier 1) reporting to relevant risk committees, and executive management as required
- Delivering or advising on risk management related aspects to ad-hoc projects as they arise
- Manage and design risk and control assurance processes
- Champion AGL’s risk ethos across the business, working with a breadth of senior stakeholders

About You

You will be an experienced risk professional with a sound understanding of best practice in enterprise risk management within a large organisation. You will have demonstrated experience engaging and developing effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including leadership teams and key business representatives.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Sound understanding of Risk Management frameworks/practices from working in other large companies (knowledge of ISO 31000) and having a perspective on best practice risk management
- Sound understanding of the three lines of defense model
- 6+ years’ proven experience in a professional risk management position
- Strong focus on delivery and ability to deal with change and drive positive outcomes
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment and control
- Flexibility and ability to handle a variety of tasks, adjust quickly to priorities and meet changing business needs
- Excellent presentation, communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of the energy industry, key challenges and industry wide risks (desirable, but not necessary)
