**Role Summary**
The Principal Electrical Consultant will play a pivotal role within our Transportation division, organising and planning the technical aspects of operational projects including the design and preparation of user requirement specifications, material and component specifications and safety in design requirements.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and coordinate technical aspects and strategies for new technology and techniques applicable to electrical systems and networks
- Providing technical and specialist engineering guidance and expertise on rollingstock and/or light rail
- Manage all aspects of relevant consultancy assignments undertaken for clients including allocation, estimating, tendering, planning, execution and close out
- Prepare responses to 'Requests for Tender' and other bidding opportunities
- Develop strong client relationships and contribute to the development of the Vehicle Services team
- Contribute to the company's Innovation program
- Support the professional development of less experienced consultants
**Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities**
- Electrical Engineering degree with demonstrated experience in the rail industry
- Competent in the design and manufacturing of rolling stock.
- Experience in rolling stock systems engineering.
- Experience in working in either a new-build or operational / service environment.
- Specialist knowledge of one or more rolling stock disciplines (e.g. traction systems, train control systems, etc.)
- Have a willingness to pursue Continuous Professional Development.
- Experience with electrical aspects of brakes, structures, HVAC etc.
- Ability to cover most rolling stock sub-systems, including verification, assessment and standards associated with those sub-systems.
