**About the role**:
Merri-bek City Council is looking for a suitably experienced practitioner to fill the position of Business Development Officer. The role focuses on supporting and developing local businesses in Merri-bek, including the delivery of third-party training and development seminars for businesses, business networking events, connecting businesses into business development opportunities, and sourcing and disseminating business relevant information. The role is ideally suited to a people person with a passion for supporting and connecting with small and medium business owners, and with experience of planning and running business networking and other similar events.
As a member of the Economic Development team, you will work with Economic Development practitioners and others across Council to facilitate support for businesses to enable them to grow and develop. This position will report into the Unit Manager Economic Development and will work on a varied and interesting range of programs and projects, including Council’s Merri-bek Business Women’s Network, Food Melbourne’s North, North Link and other stakeholders and programs.
**Skills and experience require to perform the role**:
- A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline or sufficient relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience arranging and running business support & training, and business networking events
- Sound networking and stakeholder relationship management skills
- Demonstrated commercial and business acumen
