**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Spatial Team Lead, the Drafting Technical Officer is responsible for the provision of the full range of drafting services for zone substation, overhead and underground distribution, sub-transmission and optic fibre design projects for the internal and external Powercor Network Services clients.

The Drafting Technical Officer will be responsible for the updating and provision of GIS, survey and asset recording information as required as well as the management of project related documents within the document management system.

**Key duties and responsibilities**:

- Prepare simple and complex plans for new designs and maintain system records
- Maintain the Geographical Information System
- Utilising AutoCAD and GIS packages to enable customer drawing requirements.
- Assist in the design and the planning of minor and major overhead, underground, distribution substations, primary and / secondary station in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, Safety in Design guidelines and customer requirements
- Undertake minor surveying activities
- Monitor, review and reconcile time, costs and quality of distribution network projects
- Pro-actively and effectively pursue and implement innovation and continues improvements

**Required skills and experience**:

- Engineering or Building drafting or GIS/mapping certificate or equivalent tertiary based qualification with knowledge and experience in AutoCAD systems
- Fundamental knowledge of electricity distribution network assets
- Comprehensive understanding of Engineering Technical Standards, VESI Design, Australian Standards
- Good understanding of CAD Systems and related systems such as Drawing Management Systems
- Detailed knowledge around current Drafting standards, practices, tools and processes
