**About the Role**

The Transport Planner, Road Planning and Optimisation:

- Contributes to the development of short, medium and long-term plans for Victoria’s strategic arterial roads and motorways including the development and ongoing maintenance of plans for Victoria’s Road Network and related planning artifacts.
- Undertakes analysis and planning to support the optimisation of the road network through the established process to provide guidance to road operators with a strong focus on movement and getting maximum value from our road network, supporting pedestrians, cyclists, public transport, freight and general traffic.
- Balances place and land use planning needs in line with movement and place principles, strengthening the link between transport and land use planning.
- Supports the development of key strategic policies and responses that support the operation of the road network, collaborating closely and partnering with peers.
- Supports the development and maintenance of key data artifacts, undertakes analysis and provides insights that guide the planning of the Victorian road network, including integration with land uses and other transport modes.

**Position Outcomes / Accountabilities**

We are looking for someone who has a passion for roads and multimodal transport planning, who can contribute to the technical and strategic input into compelling strategies and plans to guide the future of Victoria’s road network for all road users.

The plans and work developed by this team, including plans for Victoria’s road network and related planning guidance artefacts including guidance for road space optimisation, will help to shape the future investment in and use of Victoria’s road network.

The successful applicant will need to take a multi-modal approach focussed on the user to ensure the integration of transport and land use, supporting the movement of people and freight in line with Movement and Place principles. Additionally, the role identifies the strategic needs of the road network and adds to the development of strategic responses.

The role requires close collaboration with various DTP Groups and Modal Planning to integrate transport and land use, ensure the road network supports movement and freight, and address the strategic needs of the road network through appropriate strategies.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- Data literacy - including the ability to source, interpret and analyse complex data.

**Desirable**
- Experience and/or qualification in transport planning, transport engineering or another relevant field.
