About the role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Dual Diagnosis Coordinator is a registered nurse who is recognised as an advanced level practitioner with expertise in providing alcohol, tobacco and other drugs services within Mental Health. This role will coordinate, demonstrate expertise and leadership skills to clinicians across Mental Health and Specialised Services resulting in quality outcomes for consumers that require both Mental Health and Alcohol and or other Drug intervention.

About you
- Demonstrated clinical competence in the full range of alcohol and drug and mental health nursing.
- Holding or working towards a qualification in alcohol and drug or mental health nursing.
- High level of Smoking Cessation knowledge, skill and experience.
- High level knowledge of the prevalence of dual diagnoses within West Moreton population and community.
- High level of understanding of reasons why individuals develop dual diagnosis incorporating bio-psychosocial domains.
- Awareness of associated impacts for individuals, carers, significant others and the broader community including government and non-government services.
- Demonstrate high level knowledge of current psychoactive drug trends.
- High level knowledge of interactions between psychoactive drugs and mental state.
- Demonstrate high level knowledge of diagnostic criteria according to recommended classifications systems for: mental disorders, substance related disorders and common co-morbidities.
- Identify and understand barriers to engagement for people with dual diagnosis and high level knowledge and skills to engage people with dual diagnoses
- High level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills and ability to develop effective partnerships within the Health Service and external stakeholders.
- Experience in driving and facilitating the provision of clinical education and professional development for mental health care professionals and support staff.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
