We are seeking an experienced and strategic **Community Engagement Team Leader** to join our team on a permanent full time basis to lead the development and implementation of best practice community engagement strategies for our infrastructure projects.
This role is pivotal in ensuring that our infrastructure, customer-funded and maintenance projects are executed with mínimal impact on the community, while maximizing support and collaboration.
**Your Role in Action**
As the **Community Engagement Team Leader**, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and technical review on the community engagement approach for Western Power’s infrastructure projects. Your ability to effectively manage relationships and reduce risks for both Western Power and the community will be essential to the success of our projects.
You will also be instrumental in fostering cross-business support, improving stakeholder engagement processes, and strengthening Western Power’s reputation within the community and the wider industry.
- Manage a team of community engagement specialists through effective leadership, technical review of community engagement approach, performance management and peer support.
- Provide specialist services and advice on:
- Community consultation process
- Engagement methodology
- Community engagement techniques
- Understand and providing technical advice as required on Western Power’s legal and regulatory obligations related to all community engagement activities.
- Provide stakeholder management advice on complex and contentious community engagement issues.
- Drive improvement in Western Power’s relationship with community stakeholders and the impacts of our infrastructure projects.
- Drive internal awareness and acceptance of Western Power’s approach to community engagement and act as an advocate of sustainability assessment being embedded into decision making.
- Develop cross divisional relationships and alignment across the business.
- Establish, develop, and maintain valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders including creating and nurturing advocates to support Western Power’s growth and success.
**What Makes You a Great Fit**
We are looking for an experienced professional with the following attributes:
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Social Sciences, Social Planning, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise and experience in community engagement and stakeholder management and consultation.
- Demonstrated experience in incorporating best practice community engagement in large and contentious infrastructure projects.
- International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) qualified.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a professional team to achieve business goals.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with an ability to motivate, inspire and manage a team of professionals.
- Strong stakeholder management skills both within and outside of the organisation, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
