- The Salvation Army’s Research and Outcomes Measurement team provides research, evaluation and outcomes measurement support to The Salvation Army’s services and expressions.

We are seeking an experienced Data and Research Assistant who will manage and attend to data and information requests and provide support to research, evaluation and outcomes measurement activities to the Research & Outcomes Measurement team and Policy, Research and Social Justice Department.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Redfern (NSW) or Blackburn (VIC).

You will successfully
- Attend to data requests and ad-hoc analytics for the research & outcomes measurement team and PRSJ department in a timely manner.
- Produce community profile reports in an accessible format to target the audience in a timely manner
- Analyse and interpret data using appropriate statistical techniques
- Visualise, communicate and present data and analysis in a format that is accessible and understandable by the target audience
- Ensure data and sensitive information are stored, protected and backed up properly according to the organisation's policy and best practice
- Conduct literature and systematic reviews, and produce correspondence, reports and presentations
- Produce reports and materials for the Research Team and Department within specified deadlines
- Provide administration and logistic supports for the research and outcomes measurement team

You will have
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields, such as in Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Psychology, or similar qualifications
- At least one year of experience in research, evaluation and statistical analysis using statistical packages (e.g. Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, etc) to extract and analyse complex datasets from systems or databases
- Experience in conducting literature and systematic review, particularly related to community and social justice issues
- Strong knowledge and adherence to legal and ethical standards/best practice regarding the use, protection, storage and presentation of data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in translating complex techniques, data and findings into layman terms and understandable documents/materials.
- Prior volunteer experience in community and social justice-related programs is desirable
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
