**About the Office the Advocate Children and Young People**

The Advocate for Children and Young People is and independent statutory officer as outlined in the _Advocate for Children and Young People Act 2014. _The Advocate works to improve the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people in NSW. The Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People (ACYP) speaks up for children and young people to ensure that their rights are respected, and their points of view heard by adult decision makers. ACYP engages with the children and young people of NSW and listens to their feedback and input.

**What you’ll do**

At ACYP, the Policy Manager leads a high performing multi-disciplinary team in the development, delivery and implementation policy initiatives that support the Advocate for Children and Young People in achieving their functions under the _Advocate for Children and Young People Act 2014_.

The Manager Policy works in partnership with diverse stakeholders, including across NSW Government, non-government organisations, advocacy groups, private sector leaders, researchers, and people with lived experience.

As an experienced manager you will bring your leadership and expertise to a complex environment to deliver impactful advocacy outcomes across multiple portfolios that are in the best interests of children and young people in NSW.

**What we’re looking for**
- Extensive knowledge of government processes and expertise in policy development and advocacy.
- Ability to accurately analyse complex issues, develop sound policy recommendations and advice, and communicate effectively with senior executives and government leaders.
- High level of written and verbal communication and building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders across the public and private sectors to facilitate engagement and collaboration on policy and advocacy projects.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team to achieve results in a complex environment.
