**Position Information**:
Fort Street High School is an academically selective high school with a long history of providing education for gifted students. The school is located in Petersham and has an enrolment of 910 students of whom 75% come from language backgrounds other than English. The school is known for developing leadership across an extensive range of areas and endeavour. Fortians are encouraged to be self-directed, independent learners as well as critical thinking young adults who contribute to society in the context of a highly developed social conscience. The school provides a wide range of co-curricular programs which enhance the learning of Fortians. The school is supported by a diverse and highly engaged parent community.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Proven success in developing and implementing proactive and inclusive whole school wellbeing strategies and policies in response to student needs.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong educational leadership to an extensive wellbeing team, to develop capacity of staff and cultivate an understanding of wellbeing whilst supporting a culture of high expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop highly productive partnerships and collaborate with families, school staff, external support services and members of the DoE Student Wellbeing Directorate to support student wellbeing.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the school’s executive team to evaluate wellbeing practices and identify and define improvement measures that support the schools’ Strategic Improvement Plan (SIP).

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
