
Assistant Advisor

**Accountabilities include**:
- provide high-level support to the Senior Advisor and Principal Advisor, ensuring the preparation of all executive and parliamentary briefs, submissions and associated documentation, complies with governance frameworks, business processes, format requirements and clearly articulates the department's intent and necessary action required
- coordinate and critically examine parliamentary business and executive briefing materials, including tabling of reports, preparation of Governor's and Premier's briefs and ministerial trip briefs in a timely and effective manner
- review, edit and format briefing notes in accordance with whole-of-Government guidelines and departmental protocols and standards
- provide expert advice and assistance to customers and stakeholders on executive briefing notes and parliamentary business procedures, requirements and obligations, including the type of approvals required for specific business outcomes and timeframes
- work as an effective team member that contributes to the achievement of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Support team objectives
- contribute to the development of business processes ensuring a focus on the principles of best practice and continuous improvement
- ensure that all records are managed appropriately in electronic and physical form in line with government and departmental policy and practices
- maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including the Office of the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, the Director-General, the deputy directorsgeneral, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Executive Council, Parliament and other key roles throughout the sector
- foster and promote an environment and attitude that encourages open communication, innovative thinking and acceptance of change
- ensure the secure storage, handling and dissemination of parliamentary documentations within the department is compliant with relevant departmental and government-wide guidelines
- actively participate in personal performance planning and appraisal through accepting and providing positive and constructive feedback. Undertake training and development opportunities that are identified as necessary to achieve work unit goals, and gain awareness of corporate responsibilities through the appropriate induction processes and participation in other relevant programs
- undertake the role in accordance with the requirements of s26(1) of the Public Service Act 2008 and at all times ensure that the principles in the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service are upheld in the carrying out of all duties.
This role reports to Senior Advisor (Ministerial and Parliamentary Support).
