EL 1 - $115,663 - $124,403
- Electricity
- Adelaide - SA, Brisbane - QLD, Canberra - AC, Darwin - NT, Hobart - TAS, Melbourne - VIC, Perth - WA, Sydney - NSW

Do you want to be at the centre of Australia’s clean energy transition? Do you want to be part of a high-performing team working on priority policy to help Australia meet its renewable energy targets? Australia is currently undergoing an energy transformation and a fit for purpose and future proofed electricity grid is essential to support the increase in renewable energy generation. The Government’s Rewiring the Nation program will invest up to $20 billion in low cost finance to rebuild and modernise the grid, a key enabler to the integration of renewables into the National Energy Market. The Rewiring the Nation Office uses the financing, policy, and regulatory levers at the Commonwealth’s disposal to accelerate and support the development of transmission projects and enable Australia’s clean energy transformation.

**Who we are**
The Electricity Division provides policy advice to the Australian Government on matters that support electricity markets to deliver beneficial outcomes for consumers. We support the Minister for Climate Change and Energy to drive national electricity market reforms and implement government policies that promote affordable, secure and reliable electricity supply through the transition to net zero emissions, including Rewiring the Nation under Powering Australia, and the Capacity Investment Scheme.

The Rewiring the Nation Office works to facilitate the necessary investment in our major electricity grids to enable energy and climate policy goals to be achieved. Areas of work include advice and analysis on appropriate regulatory frameworks and reform, working closely with other governments and market bodies, and the delivery of the $20 billion Rewiring the Nation program, in close partnership with the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and other governments and industry.

**The Job**
Your responsibilities will include:

- Identifying and implementing creative solutions to complex issues facing transmission projects
- Developing strategies to achieve the Commonwealth’s long-term goals for the electricity grid
- Negotiating agreements directly with state jurisdictions and energy sector proponents across Australia
- Leading engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Preparing high quality written briefs and materials for external audiences, Ministers and departmental executive.

**What we are looking for**

- Experience leading small teams, projects or workstreams
- Experience in negotiation, drafting and/or interpretation of infrastructure or project finance agreements.
